Distribution of Eudistylia catharinae in British Columbia in British Columbia

Introduction

A large sabellid polychaete worm with a delicate plume variously coloured. The tube stands proud of the bottom by as much as 5 to 10 cm. When the worm retracts the top of the tube rolls up, effectively closing the tube. This worm is parasitized by the tiny snail Evalea tenuisculpta, which can sometimes be found in large numbers clustered around the end of the tube.
